I'm sure we are all concerned at times for the future of this great nation.  Let us pray and trust in the Lord.  Our currency still says "In God We Trust" and for so many of us that is not an outdated slogan but truly words to live by.  We must be "sober and alert" to the reality that too many in our nation are not guided by trust in God but hopefully this reality simply strengthens our resolve and places us in close solidarity with the throngs through the ages who have sacrificed so much for the faith.

Bishop Joseph E. Strickland was named the fourth bishop of Tyler in September of 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. Prior to being named bishop, he served a number of roles in the diocese, including vicar general, judicial vicar, and pastor of the Cathedral parish. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1985.
