Already in 2015, I've celebrated the Church's funeral rites for a number of people in the Diocese, including one of our deacons.  While it may sound strange to use the word "celebrate" in conjunction with a funeral, the liturgy and rites for the dead focus us on exactly that - our celebration of Christ's victory over death and our share in everlasting life.  I have some thoughts on this in my latest "On the Road"...


Joseph Strickland

Bishop Joseph E. Strickland was named the fourth bishop of Tyler in September of 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. Prior to being named bishop, he served a number of roles in the diocese, including vicar general, judicial vicar, and pastor of the Cathedral parish. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1985.
