I recently had the opportunity to visit the city of Saint Francis again.  Assisi is a beautiful place that seems to reverberate with the spirit of Saint Francis.  His message of poverty and simplicity is so important for us in todays busy and complex world.  He is a great patron saint for the Lenten season because his message is really what Lent is all about.  Focus on the Lord.  Simplify your life.  Let go of the material distractions and allow a spirit of poverty to pervade your life.

This call is a great challenge for us today but it continues to bear the fruit of peace and tranquility that the Lord Himself promised.  Let us look to Saint Francis to inspire us in the Lord as we continue our Lenten journey.
